“Creating and sustaining a strong artistic and cultural
environment in Portland’s neighborhoods”

POTACF supports the creation and presentation of significant works of art, as well as activities that preserve and promote the cultural identity of Portland neighborhoods and peoples.  We believe an important contribution to the cultural life of our area lies in empowering independent local artists to bring important works before the public. 

Our Mission

 1) To support the production and promotion of Arts and Crafts in the Community, 2) To protect and enhance the unique physical and cultural character of historic Portland neighborhoods, and 3) To promote the awareness and importance of art in the community.

POTACF was initiated by a group of people who worked and lived in Old Town in 1996.  This group wanted to support the creation and presentation of significant works of art, as well as activities which would inspire creativity and preserve and promote the cultural identity of Portland’s neighborhoods and people.

Our major current project is to aid in the fundraising efforts for the new Portland Legacy Fountain. 

“Inspiration for the fountain came from local business leader and philanthropist Bill Naito who envisioned a monument to celebrate cultural diversity in Portland,” said Laviolette. “We’re honored to be able to carry on his work. And we encourage all Portlanders who want to celebrate our community’s diverse heritage to help make the Portland Legacy Fountain project a reality.”

POTACF has created a raffle to help enable small donors to give a contribution to the building of the fountain.

The Portland Development Commission has pledged $5.5 million towards park improvements at the Fountain site. The Portland Legacy Foundation Leadership Team, working with the Portland Parks Foundation, is raising a minimum of $1 million to create the fountain itself, as a permanent attraction for residents and visitors to the area.
